George Seatter explains why he chose to become one of Vizion’s founding partners.
I have always been entrepreneurial and customer focussed. No matter where I have worked my attitude was that I was working for my own business because ultimately I knew that is what I wanted to do.
However I know from experience that it's never been more difficult to go out on your own as an insurance broker. Increased regulation has undoubtedly driven up standards which is to be applauded. However it does mean that complying with these regulatory requirements creates barriers for new entrants.
Another major barrier is finding the right financial backing which has become more difficult since the banking crisis.
Given this background I knew it was important to find the right support for my ambition but, in my opinion, the existing network models did not deal with either of these issues effectively. Fortunately Vizion was created.
I had been aware of John and Chris for a number of years and we would occasionally meet at industry events. They had a reputation for being exceptionally fair minded, successful insurance people, with a belief in delivering service excellence for their clients.
When we met to specifically discuss Vizion it was apparent that their respective reputations were justified and that we shared a lot of common values on how business should be done. It was definitely a meeting of minds.
Vizion stood out as the only credible and practical solution for me. The attraction was that its business model genuinely fosters entrepreneurial spirit, supports business growth and exceptional customer service whilst offering financial support if you need it.
It helps that John and Chris have achieved great success in both the broker and insurer worlds. Together with Trevor’s business focussed legal expertise and Jerry’s business development acumen they are a formidable team that delivers effective support to me as a partner.
In short Vizion is a business that asks what you need in order to succeed rather than simply saying "this is our way of doing things".
Working with them to create my own business has been fun and together I have no doubt that it will be a success.
